Quality control
Quality control is extended to the different project phases involving both materials and workmanship in order to ensure the specification requirements and reduce the risk to a minimum.
The Q.C. activities are grouped as follows:
Stone material control
- physical and mechanical properties control through relevant material test certificates
- physical and mechanical properties control by testing samples during production
- aspect and finishing quality control (defect detection) by comparison to samples approved by the Architect
- dimensional tolerance control of the stone processing related to the anchoring system
- full scale tests of typical slabs with relevant fixing systems
anchoring system control
- mechanical and physical properties control through acquisition of the certificates issued by the material supplier
- dimensional control
- thickness control of the surface protection (painting, hot deep galvanizing, etc.)
- bolted connections control of structural members (tightening torque)
- non destructive welding tests
- welders and welding procedures qualification
- galvanic separation control in connecting conductive materials of different kind
- full scale tests of stone support structures with evaluation of deflections under the design loads
On site control
- dimensional control of the cladding position with respect to the building reference axis system
- dimensional control of joints between slabs
- bolted connections control (tightening torque)
- pull-out strength tests on expansion bolts and adhesive bolts
- watertight control of sealed joints and water barrier
